The Hermaphrodite: PETER Drouyn

PETER Drouyn never fitted in with the professional surfing crowd despite being one of the world's best.

The night before the Surfers Paradise boy was due to compete in his first Australian Junior Championship in 1965 he was bashed.

He went on to win, surfing with cuts and bruises all over his body.

The motivation for the attack was unclear. Perhaps it was because he was in Manly and was one of the first Queenslanders to ever threaten NSW surfers for the win. Or it could have been simply because he was different, and the macho blokes in the surf scene knew it.

Mr Drouyn no longer exists. In his place is Tweed Heads transsexual lawyer Westerly Windina who says Mr Drouyn was never a real boy or man.

"I'd always had a deep suspicion something wasn't right," said Ms Windina.

"I was always an emotional butterfly, very sensitive. My mum put high heels on me and painted my nails as a child and I was in awe of her beauty and glamour, I wanted to be like her.

"I never fitted into the conceptual notion of a male, I was always one step forward or to the side.

"Because of the thing between my legs I was classified as a male and a male all over, but the doctor and my mum could see a girl. I could see a girl."

"I was treated badly back in those days," she said.

"They could read my face. They could see the sensitivity and they knew I wasn't like them.

"It was all part of the horror show I experienced trying to be male in a male world."

Mr Drouyn chose to persist because the one place he ever managed to feel successful was in the ocean.

"Surfing was my only therapy," said Ms Windina.

"Winning was my only confidence building thing. On the land, my confidence was shredded."

The Hermaphrodite: Jaila Simms

On Monday night’s premiere episode of Making The Band, singer Jaila Simms emerged as one of the show’s strongest -- and most controversial -- contestants. A powerhouse vocalist from Chicago, Jaila appeared early in the show, insisting that talent should matter more than a contestant’s “story.”

Nevertheless, Jaila’s story -- specifically that she's a transgender woman -- quickly came to the fore during her Los Angeles auditions, in which she wowed Diddy with her soulful rendition of Estelle’s “American Boy.”

Simms was born and raised outside of Chicago, where she has been singing all her life. She attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and has appeared in many Off-Broadway productions.

Simms, who grew up in Joliet and now lives in South Shore, had auditioned a few years ago for "Making the Band" but wasn't one of the chosen ones.

Back then Simms, was still "male" and auditioned as a singer for a boy band, but this time around she was "one of the girls."

Roughly three years ago, Simms began her transition from male to female, but that didn’t stop her career — it simply changed the roles that she was able to audition for.

Are you a voguer or a waacker?

"Voguing is a series of sharp poses inspired by Vogue magazine. And then waacking is a series of rotating arm movements. Both styles are similar to Bollywood and Thai dancing—arm movements and stuff like that" Quoting: Jojo Zolina

You see, just like the riots at stonewall, voguing was born in New York when a group of hermaphrodites were banned from attending a night club. Many hermaphrodites decided to take their "disco" fever underground. For some odd reason, the hermaphrodites music and dance moves were considered demonic - RIGHT.

In his voguing and waacking choreography, Jojo Zolina of Vancouver’s House of La Douche has drawn his inspiration from this 30-year-old underground movement.

“Those dancers responded to the music, they created a whole new language. More than a fad.” Quoting: Jojo Zolina

Tonight, The House of La Douche performs as part of Pride in Fashion at "Celebrities" Nightclub:

Illicit encounters....

The Hawkeye Wildlife Area near North Liberty has been seeing a lot of traffic, and a lot of skin.

This wildlife area has really nice trails, but parents, if you bring your kids here, be warned.

"We were just out here walking these trails and there was one guy walking without his bottoms on. And two guys giving each other oral sex." Tony Brewer says this place has been a known hook-up spot for gay sex for years.

"I just think there could be other places they could be doing it. Not where kids could stumble upon them doing this on the trails," said Brewer.

They've been doing this on the trails now for a while. There's a lot of trash. A lot of wrappers. We even found a pair of underwear.

There's no reason to be out in public thinking no one will see this. Before we brought our cameras in we found two completely naked men walking around.

The DNR knows about it, but the people who work here say authorities told them there is nothing they can do. Brewer wants someone to just try harder.

"I'm afraid I would be out here with my kids and we're going to be hiking the trails and one will see something like that. Kids don't need to see that," said Brewer.

America's Best Dance Crew: Evolution Vogue

On this season of American's Best Dance crew, a group of hermaphrodites called "Vogue Evolution" will bring their "voguing" style to the center stage.

The style "voguing" is very famous in the underground world of "Vogue Balls". Leyomi is famously known for the "head toss...fall back" dance move.

If you don't know who s/he is goggle him. She has been imitated by Beyonce and many other performers from American's Best Dance Crew. This isn't the first "all" gay dance crew to take center stage, many have reported that the group "Fanny Pak" was also an all gay ensemble.

The Hermaphrodite: Richard Ramsay or Renee Ramsay

Renee Ramsay (formerly known as Richard Ramsay), a 77-year-old Viet Nam veteran, has had a sex change operation and told CBS, “I’m as happy as any woman could be.” The sex change operation costs anywhere upwards of $20,000 and it took him four decades to save up the money.

The final process was to remove his genitals, which he did recently. Renee further told CBS, “Since I was about 13, I always knew something was different.” Currently, Renee Ramsay is the oldest person, ever, to have had a sex change operation. Before he changed his name to Renee, he was Richard. “It was weird cause as much as I wanted to dress like a lady, I didn't say anything. I knew if I did I would be discharged,” said the former Green Beret specialist.

Thailand: A Kuwaiti Tourist Robbed by a Ladyboy

Two Kuwaiti tourists fell for a regular robbery scam especially favoured by ladyboys trolling along Beach Road. As Mr. Alsuwaileh and his friend were leaving the Mixx discotheque at Bali Hai Plaza they were approached by ladyboy Warawat Rongkhan all dressed up to the nines and offered the men a night of passionate bliss. The two declined the offer and as they walked away, Alsuwaileh was pounced upon with hugs and kisses from the determined ladyboy. It was only until he pushed the man away did he discover that 1,000 baht was missing from his back trouser pocket. Realising he had been robbed he called a nearby security guard who quickly apprehended the suspect thief trying to make a getaway along Walking Street. Police were called and they all paid a visit to the police station where, lo and behold, after a search they discovered the 1,000 baht hidden inside the flowing wig being worn by Rongkhan.

The Hermaphrodite: James Barry or Margaret Bulkley

James Barry was not a man, but the evidence shows that it is unlikely that (s)he was a woman either, nor an hermaphrodite, but most likely a third sex person of the AIS (Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome) variety. (S)he would have had her testicles start to descend at puberty – often the first sign of this conditions, and usually mistaken for the development of a hernia in what appears to be a woman.

Doctors, scientists and philosophers have always known that the third sex exists. Where societies are enlightened enough to allow these things to be recorded, the stats show that about 1 in every 1000 people is from the third sex. Aristotle thought this a condition of a lack of balance between the male and female in a person, but then Aristotle blamed everything on a lack of balance. Galen disputed Aristotle’s theory, and wrote that such people were a third sex on their own, not male or female.

The Hermaphrodite: Prisoner A

A transsexual prisoner serving life for manslaughter and attempted rape committed while she was a man has claimed the refusal to move her to a women's prison is a violation of her human rights.

The inmate, who can only be identified as Prisoner A, was described by her lawyer in the High Court as "a woman trapped inside a man's body".

A judge heard that, although apparently born male, Prisoner A had her womanhood recognised by law and her birth certificate had been amended to show her female sex.

Barrister Phillipa Kaufman told Deputy Judge David Elvin QC that hair on A's face and legs had been permanently removed by laser and she had developed breasts after hormone treatment.

But she was forbidden from wearing skirts or blouses, or more than "subtle" make up, at the men's prison where she was being held on a "vulnerable prisoners" wing.

To complete her change to full womanhood, she required gender reassignment surgery, but had been told she could not have it while she remained in a men's prison.

Prisoner A, in her 20s, watched the court proceedings via video link from prison, and her seated figure was visible on screens in the courtroom as Miss Kaufman argued the refusal to move her to a women's prison breached her right to respect for her private life under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

The Department of Justice and the prison authorities argue the prisoner would be no more likely to be accepted by inmates at a female prison and that, if moved, she would have to spend long periods in segregation at an extra cost of £80,000 per year.

They contend that a move to a female jail might have a serious impact on her mental health and make it more difficult for her to reduce her level of risk to society and win early release from her sentence.

The court heard the prisoner's female sex had been recognised under the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and her birth certificate amended accordingly.

James Collins formed Fertile Ground in Baltimore in the spring of 1997, based around Navasha Daya's warm vocals and drummer Marcus Asante's drum grooves. Fertile Ground created their local fame by performing in the local Baltimore area clubs. The group has since grown into a sextet that includes African percussion and a horn section.

Hermaphrodite and or Shemale Porn: The Best of Both Sexes??

Jay-Z has sent a subliminal message to all those who listen to his music. He has entertained you all with a CD titled, "The Best of Both Worlds". If Jay-Z can get away with changing that line to, "The Best of Both Sexes" - well - he would've.

It seems as if the majority of customers who watch hermaphrodites in Porn are straight men. According to the ecommerce journal. Even though shemales have a penis, they appear and act like real woman.

It has been reported that the shemales aren't popular in the gay market because gay guys want to see guys not girl. However, they still seek the effeminate guys who are living life as a gay man.

The ecommerce-journal reports that, "people who like shemales..often call themselves ‘Straight with a twist’. Many of them are over 30, probably married, or in a relationship with a woman. They have seen a lot of stuff, and they are just looking for something more exotic."

Now, as a person who grew up listening to all sorts of genre's of music and have read a ton of magazines, it's easy to conclude that most of these so-called celebrities have seen a lot of stuff, and they are just looking for something more exotic, different and a women or man with a twist - as Jay-Z would say, "The Best of Both World" or rather a person born with a "Bi-Gender".

The Hermaphrodite: Kimberly or Paul McKerrow

Maybe it's me or maybe it's not me but - Kimberly or Paul looks a lot like the daughter or son of Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh. Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh are also the parents of Jamie Lee Curtis. The tiny picture below is minimized for a reason. I keep telling you all that, "Hollywood is filled with arranged situation".

Here's the article:

Kimberly says that she always felt uncomfortable in her body growing up, but that it was a slow realisation about what was really going on. "That was due to a lot of repression," she says.

"I think that's very common. It was a very lonely, isolating experience. I never confided in anyone. I was always a bit of a loner, and stuck in my own head. I was very quiet, but I was still quite popular in high school. I was class president and valedictorian, and I played football. I was pretty good too.

"I had girlfriends throughout my teens. I guess I was trying to find things that would 'fix' me and that meant doing the things I was expected to do growing up."

'I had a very slow transition," she explains. "I know a lot of people who do it overnight -- literally. For me, I was slowly transitioning as I was working through school and starting off in my career. It took a good few years; the standard practice is to go through a lot of therapy and counselling as you're going through the process.

"My family knew about it to varying degrees at different times. My younger brother Todd is gay and also lived in the Bay area in San Francisco, so he was the first I told, along with my mom. My older brother Marc was the only one who wasn't in on everything.

"After I transitioned I was a bit uncomfortable about it all. When you change your sex, there's a tremendous pressure to bury your past and to 'disappear'. That's what I did. I gave up being a filmmaker, and worked in publishing instead for many years.

"When I started making this film, I found my brother Marc was the only one who wouldn't let me get away with forgetting my male past. He forced me to reclaim it."

"I think anyone who transitions often wonders, 'Well, I started off in the wrong body, am I going to end up in the right one?' That scepticism is why it's important to take the whole process step by step, rather than doing it radically overnight."

Living her new life as a woman, Kimberly admits that she found conducting relationships difficult at first. "I guess I just dreaded the conversation," she says. "But I really found that the more at peace I was with it, the easier it was for other people to accept. I've now been with my partner, Claire Jones, for the past nine years."

Update: The Hermaphrodite Darrell Walls or Isis King

"From as young as I can remember, I’ve always felt like I was different. I visually looked like a boy, but I never felt like one on the inside. I played with Barbies and did double Dutch with the girls. In high school, I came out as a gay male; even though I felt like that’s not who I was, it started to change things for me. I was voted Most Outgoing, Most Unique. I was the artist, the fashion designer."

At 15, I had a boyfriend for a few months. When I was younger, I had girlfriends, but most of them were an image of who I am today or kind of like my mother. I was intrigued by them because I couldn’t be who I really am. Now I’m heterosexual – I’m only interested in men.

"My mother was very anti-everything at first. Then I did a documentary called Born in the Wrong Body last year. Now she is very supportive. My baby brother, who is 7, is happy for me. But I have a rocky relationship with my 18-year-old brother."

"I started hormones last summer. [They facilitate development of feminine characteristics, such as breasts.] When I first started taking them, I got sick a bit, and that’s normal. My body is filling out nicely. I’m skinny – I think if I were a little thicker, I would have seen more dramatic changes. I go through electrolysis every week and a half, two weeks."

"Also, I used to wear silicone [breast enhancers] for shoots, but it’s too hot with all that extra stuff. Most models don’t have breasts anyway! I would also tape [my penis] at first, but since then I’ve found new ways to make everything smooth. What I use is like a thong. I made it myself with a piece of denim."
Quoting: Isis King

As some of you may recall, Isis King was a contest on the 10th cycle of America's Next Top Model. Within the same year, Isis admitted that she was born a he. Isis appeared on the Tyra Banks show to share her story. In return, Tyra Banks agreed to paid for Isis to undergo a sex change.

As Isis transition into a girl, Tyra and the producers decide to invite Isis to appear on the 11th cycle beginning on Friday, August 7th. According to America's Next Top Model executive producer Ken Mok, the decision to cast a transgender contestant in the show's upcoming season was done to help further one of host and Executive Producer Tyra Banks' initial reasons for launching the long-running reality series.

"We want to redefine what beauty is," he explains. "You can be tall, you can be short, you can be plus size, you can be transgender; you don't have to be what the modelling industry says you have to be. That was one of Tyra's original missions."

Update: Eunuch menace near railway station

Eunuchs have become a nuisance to the already harassed public near the railway stations in the suburbs. These eunuchs take advantage of the slow moving traffic in and around the station area and pounce upon passengers alighting from rickshaws for alms.

They block the way and grab people's hands to compel them to give away money. Commuters allege that the traffic police and the police on duty are silent spectators. Office going ladies, young girls and college going students are the favourite targets of the eunuchs. Girls, women, young boys fear their misbehavior and vulgar comments.

"We belong to the service class are have limited income. We try to save money by boarding share-a-rickshaw but these eunuchs try to grab whatever change we get in return from the auto rickshaw drivers. They are so strong that we can't even defend ourselves from their clutches. The police should chase them away and jail them. Only then they will stop harassing public," said Rohini Srivastav from Tilak chowk Kalyan west.

Harassed commuters say that they really want the authorities to take some strict action. "If the police will not act fast then we will be forced to thrash the eunuchs in public. That's the only way to stop this public nuisance," complained Kunal Karnik, Sameer Sawant and Rahil Shaikh from Kalyan west, students from RKT college, Ulhasnagar.

When DK Plus confronted the traffic policeman on duty he retorted, "We are here to regulate the traffic and not to mind the eunuchs. Police Inspector Avhad, Mahatma Police station, said, "We always take action against them, we have even sent them to jail for days together but they are freed by court on paying a negligible amount as fine. After keeping away for a few days they return to their spots and start begging again.

They run away as soon as they see a policeman. But as DK Plus has brought up this serious issue I will take strict action against them and place a few policemen on duty at this particular area to get rid of these culprits
," assures Avhad.

Pervert Alert: Henry Thompson

Police arrested a 54-year-old Clovis man Sunday after intercepting sexually-explicit communication he is accused of having with a 13-year-old girl.

Officials said Henry Thompson met the girl through his work with a local church youth group.

Thompson was arrested around 8 p.m. at Hillcrest Park when he showed up for a meeting he thought he’d arranged with the girl, according to a news release from the Clovis Police Department.

Thompson is being held on a $50,000 bond on five felony counts of solicitation of a child by electronic device. He is accused of sending text messages to Clovis police detectives and Curry County Sheriff’s Office investigators who were posing as the 13-year-old, the release said.

The investigation was launched Thursday when the girl’s mother went to police with explicit text messages she found on her daughter’s cell phone, according to an arrest affidavit filed in Curry County Magistrate Court.

The mother identified Thompson as a man who was involved in their church and takes the church’s youth group to Castleland Park, a local recreation center.

The woman said she had also dropped her daughter off at Thompson’s home so he could take her with the youth group, the affidavit said.

The church is not identified in court records and Capt. Patrick Whitney declined to identify the church where Thompson and the girl met.

Records show police took custody of the girl’s cell phone and continued communicating with Thompson, arranging a meeting with him at the park.

Police discovered text messages on the girl’s phone that gave descriptions of sexual activities Thompson allegedly wanted to engage the girl in, a “very sexually explicit” voice message and at least one photo of male genitalia.

During an interview with detectives at the sheriff’s office, Thompson admitted to sending the text, voice and photo messages, telling officers he photographed his genitalia while in a portable bathroom at Cannon Air Force Base, the affidavit said.

Thompson has moved frequently. He was working as a pipe-fitter/welding contractor at Cannon Air Force Base and had plans to move to California next month, Whitney said.

I think the lesson to parents is they do definitely need to be monitoring their kid’s cell phone activities, not just what Web sites they may be visiting,” Whitney said.

Incest...

Surprising as it may seem, incest is not always a crime in Europe.

Three European Union nations – France, Spain and Portugal – do not prosecute consenting adults for incest, and Romania is considering following suit.

The shocking case of Austrian Josef Fritzl, found guilty this week of holding his daughter captive for 24 years and fathering her seven children, has focused new attention on incest – which is a crime in itself in Austria even if the acts are consensual. But in the Fritzl case it was in connection with rape, homicide and other charges that led to a sentence of life in a secure psychiatric ward.

Laws exempting parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters from prosecution for incestuous acts if they are not forced upon adult family members are decades old in France, Spain and Portugal.

In Romania, decriminalizing incest among consenting adults is being considered as part of a wide range of reforms to the country’s criminal code. No date has been set yet for a parliament vote on the bill, and opposition to the proposal is fervent even among some lawmakers in the ruling coalition.

Currently all forms of incest in Romania are punishable by up to seven years in prison. But Romania’s Justice Ministry suggests the new legislation would move the country – which joined the European Union two years ago – closer legally to some other EU members.

“Not everything that is immoral has to be illegal,” said Justice Ministry legal expert Valerian Cioclei. “We cannot help these people by turning them into criminals and punishing them.”

Incest is defined as sexual intercourse between people too closely related to marry legally. In the United States, all 50 states and the District of Columbia prohibit even consensual incest, although a few states impose no criminal penalties for it, according to the Harvard Law Review.

Not everything that is immoral has to be illegal. We cannot help these people by turning them into criminals and punishing them.

Legal expert Valerian CiocleiNewspaper articles in Romania have criticized the planned legal change over consensual incest. The ministry, however, countered with a statement claiming that incest cannot be stopped with “criminal sanctions, but with medical and social measures, because incest is based on pathological factors.”

Not all Romanians accept the Justice’s Ministry’s argument.

Anuta Popa, a 22-year-old woman in the western city of Cluj, said she doubted that incest ever happened by consent in her country, saying it was more likely that the man was drunk and violently attacked his sister or mother.

Incest should not be legalized. If they want to have sex, better to say a prayer and remember that God sees them,” she declared. “I would castrate them.”

Iosif Damian, a 56-year-old cleaner, said he was unsure if consulting adults should be jailed for incest but added “I think it is shameful all the same.”

“Or (if) they are ill and prison is not a solution, they need medical help,” he said.

But one 27-year old chauffeur did not see any problem with the legal change.

If brothers and sisters want to have fun, why should they be imprisoned? It is nobody’s business what I do in my bedroom,” Ionut Breazu of Cluj told the Associated Press.

Challenges in countries where incest is a crime surface occasionally.

In Germany, the country’s highest court last year rejected an appeal by a man who was sent to prison after fathering four children with his sister in a consensual relationship.

Opponents say that children born out of incest face an increased risk of genetic problems, especially inherited disorders of “recessive” conditions, or those caused by a double dose of a gene that carries a mutation – one from each parent. There are about 3,500 recessive conditions, most of them very rare.

Everyone carries several of these recessive gene mutations, but since most of them are extremely rare, the chance of two unrelated people carrying a mutation in the same gene is low,” said Jess Buxton, spokesman for the British Society of Human Genetics.

But he said sexual relationships between relatives more closely related than cousins carry increased risks to offspring because the adults share a greater proportion of their genetic material. Full siblings share 50 percent of their genetic material, as do parents and their children.

The closer the biological relationship between two people, the higher the risk of passing on a recessive condition to their children,” Buxton said.

And then there are the moral dilemmas over incest.

It generates a confusion of roles,” says Romanian psychologist Aurora Liceanu. “Imagine: how can one explain to a child that his father is also his grandfather?”

Opposition also comes from the Romanian Orthodox Church, which counts some 85 percent of the population among its worshippers and says incest “affects the moral and psychological health of human beings … the sacred family institution, and public morality.”

A Vatican spokesman declined to directly comment on the issue but pointed to Catholic Church doctrine, which bans incest among immediate relatives and says it “corrupts family relationships.”

And sentiment appears strong against any form of incest even in the countries where it is legal among consenting adults. An IPSOS poll in France taken in January showed that 59 percent of the 931 respondents thought all forms of incest should be considered a criminal offense. No margin of error was published.

Yet around Europe, there is some acceptance of consensual incest among adults.

Irish homemaker Margaret Henry, 42, said society shouldn’t be so concerned about it.

“(Why are they) arresting people for what they do in their own homes, as long as they’re adults and they’re not hurting each other?” she asked.

That sentiment was shared by Hermann Koening, a 23-year-old graphic designer from Duesseldorf, Germany.

Incest is a sin,” Koening said while waiting at a Dublin bus stop. “But maybe it’s wrong to make it a crime.”

Update: The Eunuch

After protests from several quarters against the judgement of the Delhi High Court approving homosexuality, now the Eunuchs (Kinners) have lodged their strong resentment against the move.

"If a such thing happens then it will certainly affect our business and could even destroy our culture and tradition", said Puja Kinner, convenor of the Kinner Maha Sammelan which concluded here yesterday.

The 10-day-long national level conference of the eunuchs also passed a resolution urging the Central government not to succumb to any presssure of some NGOs who want abolition of Section 377 of the IPC and approving homosexuality in the country.

Puja said most of the eunuchs earn their livelihood through dancing and singing after a new child was born to a family. "If homosexuality is approved then how will be the child be born and how will we earn our livelihood", she questioned.

The Eunuch said approval of homosexuality would also lead to 'anarchy' in society and after abolishment of Section 377, rapists would go scot free.

Another Eunuch Achi said if the government goes on to approve homosexuality, then their society would be the most-affected and could even lead starvation.

Puja also said the conference also passed a resolution, encouraging people from their society to take part in politics.

"We have decided to contest Assembly and other elections in a big way throughout the country", she announced.

The conference was attended by Eunuchs from states like Rajasthan, West Bengal, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Orrisa and Uttar Pradesh.

Endocrine Society release guidelines for treatment of hermaphrodites...

Sex reassignment requires close collaboration between a mental health professional and endocrinologist throughout the endocrine transition. The endocrinologist’s role is to confirm the diagnostic criteria that the mental health professional used to make the recommendation of sex reassignment and then collaborate with making the recommendation for surgical sex reassignment.

Transsexual people who seek sex reassignment “require a safe and effective hormone regimen that will suppress endogenous hormone secretion determined by the person’s genetic/biologic sex and maintain sex hormone levels within the normal range for the person’s gender,” the guidelines stated.

Further, “we recommend that physicians evaluate and ensure that applicants understand the reversible and irreversible effects of hormone suppression and cross-sex hormone treatment before they start hormone treatment.”

For adolescents, the guidelines recommend treating with gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogues to suppress puberty until age 16 or no earlier than Tanner stages 2to 3. After age 16, a gradually increasing dose schedule of cross-sex hormones may be given.

The task force also recommended against a complete sex change and hormone treatment in adolescents because of a high rate of remission of gender identity disorder after the onset of puberty. The guidelines suggest deferring surgery until age 18.

With regards to gender reassignment surgery, the recommendation must be made by both the mental health professional and endocrinologist. Surgery is recommended only after a year of consistent, compliant hormone treatment. Multidisciplinary collaboration is required regarding hormone use during and after surgery.

Update: Alberta, Canada - Sex-change clients file complaints

Five Red Deer and area sex change patients are among three dozen who have filed human rights complaints against Alberta Health for cutting off funding for sex-change surgery.

While gender identity disorder is a medically recognized condition, earlier this year the province decided to stop funding sex-change surgery as a way of reducing health-care expenses.

The province is saving $700,000 this year and $2 million over three years by eliminating the funding.

Dana Moran, of Red Deer, who has already had surgery to become a woman, said the Alberta Human Rights Commission is the only avenue to force the province to reinstate funding.

“My friends and I here are fairly confident that it’s going to be found in our favour,” said Moran on Thursday.

A few years ago the Ontario commission forced that province to restore funding.

A precedent has been set so it’s odd that Alberta would even try when it’s already failed elsewhere in Canada, she said.

Surgery to create female genitalia costs about $20,000 and to create male genitalia is $50,000. Those surgeries don’t include surgery on other parts of the body like breast augmentation or trachea or forehead shaves.

Moran expects the commission to hear the complaints at the end of the year, and the delay may be difficult for people who are already on hormones and waiting for surgery.

“Some are feeling kind of sad right now because they’d like things to be moving. But they just have to kind of learn to wait a bit. These things take a while.”

People can still go for the surgery, pay for it themselves, and wait for possible reimbursement. But the cost is prohibitive for many, she said.

The Taleon Goffney story would be interesting enough if it were just about a gay porn actor going to prison for burglary.

(You can't make this stuff up).

Erik Shut, of TLA Entertainment Group, told The Associated Press that Taleon Goffney and his twin brother Keyontyli Goffney appear in gay porn flicks under the names Teyon and Keyon.

Shut told The Associated Press that the twins could have had a very bright future in the gay porn business. He said the fact that Taleon and Keyontyli Goffney are identical twins and "incredibly good-looking" is a novelty.

Indeed.

Australian Defence Force man robbed of laptop by ladyboy...

THE Australian Defence Force is investigating a potential breach of national security after a naval officer in Bangkok was robbed of his Defence Department computer by a ladyboy he had brought back to his hotel room late at night.

Defence last night played down the security implications of the theft, saying the data in the laptop was of a low classification and it was password-protected.

The officer -- named in a Thai police report as Lieutenant Commander Peter de Maskens, a qualified helicopter pilot who received the Order of Australia Medal in January -- was in Bangkok on official business and had gone out for the night to the city's Nana Plaza, an entertainment zone in the city full of go-go bars and where ladyboys also solicit in the streets.

After returning to the city's Banyan Tree Hotel with his guest about 2.40am last Saturday, the officer blacked out inside the hotel room and did not wake up until 7am.

Meanwhile, his laptop, cash, a mobile telephone, two bags, an iPod, his passport and his credit cards had disappeared. He could not remember anything after entering his room. He is understood to have told colleagues that he thought his guest was a woman.

An Incestuous Relationship Televised on 60 Minutes...

Authorities are considering whether any proceeds of crime can be confiscated from a father and daughter convicted of incest.

In March last year, John Deaves, 61, and his daughter Jenny, 39, told a South Australian court they had had two babies in an incestuous relationship.

Their story was given wide media prominence at the time.

SA police have now referred the case to the state's Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for review.

Mr Deaves's ex-wife Dorothy says it is not acceptable to profit from a crime.

"You know if you're doing something wrong you shouldn't get paid for it," she said.

A DPP spokeswoman said court proceedings were not underway but that action by the Confiscations Unit was being considered.

Convicted criminals cannot profit from their crimes under Australian law.

A "fed-up" Ms Deaves, who revealed she shared two children with her father on 60 Minutes in April last year, has denied accepting cash for the interviews but admits being given gifts.

"[60 Minutes] gave us clothing for the filming of the segment, bought food for us, helped repair our vandalised car and moved our furniture when we relocated after the interview," she said.

60 Minutes executive producer Hamish Thomson said he had no comment today: last year, he revealed the show did not pay the Deaves but instead bought them "clothes from Target".

Ms Deaves said she believed her incest conviction was wrong because she, alongside "thousands of others", suffered from Genetic Sexual Attraction (GSA) disorder.

She also slammed Australia's incest laws for being inconsistent.

"Why are the laws so different between states? Why if John and I have sex in SA we get seven years but when we come to NSW it's 20 years?" she said.
