The Hermaphrodite: El’Jai Devoureau

Born physically as a female (with ambiguous genitalia) but yet raised as a male, El'Jai Devoureau was fired from his job as a urine monitor at a urban drug treatment center. His assignment was to watch 'men' urinate into plastic cups. Roughly five years ago, El'Jai started male hormone treatments and in 2009 he had the required sex-reassignment surgery. El'Jai is currently suing his former employer for discrimination.

"Female athletes may not be eligible to compete as women if they have natural testosterone levels in the male range." -- Reports Nature News as new guidelines on female hyperandrogenism was recommended by the International Olympic Commission (IOC) and accepted by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

Jenna Lyons

The creative director for the clothing line Jcrew has landed in hot water. Jenna Lyons and her son are featured in a ad in support of the new line for children. As you can see in the picture above, Jenna has painted her son's toe nails Pink. In the ad below, two children stand together with their ponytails braided into one as one child hugs onto the other. Many are concerned that the ads for Jcrew's children line are pushing the issues associated with gender identity disorders (children born as hermaphrodites) a bit too far:

The Hermaphrodite: Chaz Bono

Appearing as a fully transitioned male, Chaz Bono (Cher's daughter) and his girlfriend Jennifer Elia were spotted at the 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards. The event was held yesterday in Los Angeles, California at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel.

A Caved-Hermaphrodite

Five thousand years after s/he was buried, a group of archaeologists in Europe have unearthed the burial of a caved-hermaphrodite. The skeleton dates between 2900 BCE and 2500 BCE.

The Hermaphrodite: Lawerence Campbell

The hermaphrodite Lawerence Campbell was arrested on March 30th for performing oral sex on a popular radio deejay in New York City. The deejay is employed at New York's HOT 97 radio station and goes by the stage name Mister Cee (born Calvin Lebrun).
