Update: Hermaphrodite Caster Semenya

On Friday, South Africa’s Caster Semenya carried her country's flag during the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Despite being cleared to participate in the competition, the subject of Caster's gender remains the topic of discussion - at the Olympics. Some websites are reporting that test results conducted in 2009 confirmed that the athlete's body "has both male and female characteristics—she’s externally female, and internally male, essentially — and produces far more testosterone than the average woman." - despite this discovery by medical officials, Caster will compete in the Olympics as a woman.

    Fortunately she will compete as a woman ! She already has to undergo a hormonal treatment, and this is unfair. The side effects of this kind of treatment are terrible, especially for those who don't need it, who are not sick !

    She's not sick. She was born with this condition and i don't understand why she qualified to run with those who were born 1005 female. Her (or his) body is producing more testosterones that a normal male.

    They are really "hush hush" about Caster's condition.

    Do you know there can be more differences between two men testosterones than between a male and a female. Why do we focus on this issue ? For example, some athletes get an huge advantage of having low heart rate, we could consider that this is unfair and that they should be disqualified, or cured! the way Caster was (whereas she was just born that way, and she may have an advantage, as height can be one, as anything innate can be).

    Nothing has been confidential about her, she was only 18 but everyone around the world, all the newspapers were talking about her genitals!
    There have been so many tragedies in athletics history about such a personal detail: just think about the young and cute Santhi Soundarajan.

    I'm sure Caster is someone very strong and brave and I wish her the best.
    Imagine she had never have a gold medal, no one would have bothered her, none jealous people.
