Kathoey: Jenny Shimizu

According to wikipedia, "In 2005, she married Rebecca Loos for the Sky documentary Power Lesbian UK (broadcast as Power Lesbians on Logo, which profiled successful lesbians in Los Angeles) and appeared on Tyra Banks' reality show America's Next Top Model. In January 2007, Shimizu described an intimate relationship she had with Madonna, claiming that Madonna would fly her to destinations across the world for sexual liaisons. "I was her secret 'booty call' available any time of the day or night for secret sex sessions...she's superb in bed."



"In modeling, most of the designers hire me for my strength and androgyny,” Shimizu continues. “They know what look is best for me. Sometimes, as a model, I felt a little silly when I was wearing a short skirt and heels. But as a Japanese-American, tattooed, out lesbian, I wasn’t going to say ‘no’ to them.”

In 1993, at the age of 24, Shimizu was discovered while go-go dancing at Club F**k in Los Angeles.



“The last thing you expect when you are in a jock strap and a moustache and someone snaps a Polaroid, is that you will receive a call from Calvin Klein asking you to move to New York,” Shimizu says. “I wasn’t a risk-taker and was likely to just say ‘no’ to many things. It was the casting director who discovered me and became my friend who urged me not to give up this opportunity. She is someone I trust and she helped me gain security and confidence. Next thing you know, I was moving to New York.” The rest is history and will not only go down in fashion archives, but those for lesbians, women and Asian-Americans.
