San Franciso: The Annual Hermaphrodite March

The 6th annual Trans March took a different route than in years past, starting at Dolores Park where several thousand people gathered, and forming a march that traveled through the Mission district. The excitement was still high as the group neared the announced ending point at 26th and Valencia, where one contingent took Cesar Chavez Street continuing to an after-party at El Rio while a smaller subgroup kept on marching through the city.

This year's march marked San Francisco's sixth year since the event began in 2004 when it was first established to honor Gwen Araujo, a young transgendered woman who was brutally murdered in Newark, California in November of 2002.

  1. You can't tell if these people are male or female. They are really stuck in between genders. I am a bit shocked at the signs.

Especially this one, "I don't understand your sexuality either".

They are claiming to have started the Stonewall March. I saw the images from that historical point in time and the people in the photos were tuck in between genders.

They were born as a hermaphrodite and this trait is hereditary.

They were children in pictures and you couldn't tell if these children were born male or female.

  2. They had a booth setup for Pagan Pride?

    Witch craft?

Now i understand why Beyonce performed at the BET awards in a wedding inspired leotard with a veil. These people were out marking IN wedding gowns!

She was sending a subliminal message to the Gay Pride marchers.

What was she trying to tell them? Cut your penis off, change your identity and marry a man who is gay?

  4. Please do not confuse things: this is the Transsexual March, not the "Hermaphrodite March." Transsexuals and Intersexuals --also known as Hermaphrodites -- are not the same group of people. Intersex is something you are born with, where you have physical features that are considered both male and female. Transsexuality refers to people born male or female who do not feel they are the sex they were born into and decide to use hormones and/or surgery to change their body to the opposite sex, which feels right for them.
