Mary Anne Hoskins is sitting in Melanie Hudson’s office, blowing raspberries.
She’s learning how to use her voice. At 44, she thought she already knew. But one look at her vocal cords and Dr. Robert Ossoff sent her down the Vanderbilt Voice Center hallway to Hudson, a speech pathologist, who soon put Hoskins through the training paces. Hoskins pursed her lips and buzzed, she talked into a Kleenex, then she emitted a very dramatic “hummmmm” in a great arpeggio arch, like a note going over a waterfall. Hoskins, an academic advisor at the University of Tennessee, started losing her voice about three years ago when, as an alto in the Knoxville First Baptist Church choir, she noticed her hallelujahs were harsh and inharmonious. She saw her physician, who referred her to an otolaryngologist, who suggested surgery.

Ronnie Spector looks like Etta James in the face. I thought Josephine Baker got sick and lost her ability to have children(according to the movie), or was that a cover up? This was suppose to be why she adopted all those children. Maybe, just maybe she adopted all those children to hide her real children in between somewhere. Just like Oprah is doing with here children at Gail's house.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child I use to do all my book reports on famous Black celebrities. I did one on Josephine baker. I found her to be totally awesome. But what I later found out about her damn there destroyed my image of her. She is rumoured to have really hated being Black. Yes I do realize she had Indian (Black ppl's way of disowning themselves) in her family, but anyone can clearly see that she was a sister.
Please don't tell me that Lena Horne is intersexed. I wouldn't even care because I Love Ms. Horne. But you never really hear about her children either. I do remember them mentioning that she had a daughter. Other than that you don't hear a thing.
